Nouméa és la capital i la ciutat més gran de la col·lectivitat especial francesa de Nova Caledònia. Està situada en una península al sud de l'illa principal de Nova Caledònia, Grande Terre, i és la llar de la majoria de la població europea, polinèsia (wallisians, futunians, tahitians), indonèsia i vietnamita de l'illa, així com de molts melanesis, ni-vanuatu i kanaks que treballen en una de les ciutats més industrialitzades del Pacífic Sud. La ciutat es troba en un port d'aigües profundes protegit que serveix com a principal port per a Nova Caledònia. Al cens d'agost de 2014, hi havia 179.509 habitants a l'àrea metropolitana de la Gran Nouméa (francès: agglomération du Grand Nouméa), 99.926 dels quals vivien a la ciutat (comuna) de Nouméa. El 66,8% de la població de Nova Caledònia viu a la Gran Nouméa, que cobreix les comunes de Nouméa, Le Mont-Dore, Dumbéa i Païta.

Inyeug Island is a small uninhabited island in Tafea Province of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean. "Inyeug" means "Small Island" in a local language. Inyueg is also called Mystery Island by the cruise ships that regularly visit the island. The island has an area of about 15.9 hectares and is located only 1 km south of the island of Aneityum. Inyeug is flanked to the west and south by the coral Intao Reef, that extends further south, and, albeit submerged, is the southernmost point of Vanuatu. The island has the airport for the neighboring inhabited Aneityum Island. The airport is basically a grass airstrip, which gets small plane flights twice weekly from Port Vila via Tanna Island.
