Day 3
hiroshima, japan
Arrival: 08:00
-
Departure: 18:00
Hiroshima is an industrial city with wide boulevards and criss-crossing rivers, located along the coast of the Seto Inland Sea. While many people only know it for the horrific moment on August 6, 1945, when it became the site of the world's first atomic bomb attack, it has since transformed into a modern, cosmopolitan city with excellent cuisine and a lively nightlife.
There are two World Heritage Sites in Hiroshima. One is the Itsukushima Shrine, and the other is the A-Bomb Dome of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial.
Hiroshima is home to several historical sites. The Hiroshima Castle stands in the centre of the city. You can see the old town, which was formed during the Edo era, in Tomonoura in Fukuyama City and in Takehara City. However, in Hiroshima City, there are few old buildings as many were destroyed by the atomic bomb. Yet, some still stand resilient – for example, the Old Bank of Japan Hiroshima Branch, the Rest House, and so on. Around the Peace Memorial Park, you can see many statues dedicated to praying for the victims of the atomic bomb. The entirety of Hiroshima can serve as a textbook of its own history.

Kobe (神戸, Kōbe) is the capital of Hyogo Prefecture and one of Japan's ten largest cities. Situated between the sea and the Rokko mountain range, Kobe is also regarded as one of Japan's most attractive cities.
Kobe has been an important port city for many centuries. Its port was among the first to be opened to foreign trade in the 19th century, alongside the ports of Yokohama, Nagasaki, Hakodate, and Niigata.
In 1995, Kobe was struck by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, which claimed the lives of over 5,000 people and destroyed tens of thousands of buildings. Today, the city is completely rebuilt, and few signs of the terrible event remain.
