4. Częstochowa
Stay
About the destination: Częstochowa is a city in southern Poland on the Warta River. It has been situated in the Silesian Voivodeship and was previously the capital of the Częstochowa Voivodeship. However, Częstochowa is historically part of Lesser Poland, not of Silesia. Częstochowa is located in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland; It is 13th most populous city in Poland. It is the largest economic, cultural and administrative hub in the northern part of the Silesian Voivodeship. Currently the city is one of the main tourist attractions of the area and is sometimes called the little Nuremberg because of the number of souvenir shops. The Black Madonna of Częstochowa, housed at the Jasna Góra Monastery, is a particularly popular attraction. Throughout the centuries, many buildings have been erected, most of them now have status of tourist attractions and historical monuments since Częstochowa was established already in the Middle Ages. Among those attractions are old townhouses and the urban core of the city centre.

5. Lourdes
Stay
About the destination: Lourdes is a large town in the French Pyrenees. It is a global center of Marian pilgrimage, receiving hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Catholics believe that the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared 18 times at the Grotto to a young girl, St Bernadette Soubirous.Originally a sleepy market town on the road to the spas of the Pyrenees, Lourdes has grown into the largest Marian pilgrimage center in the world. The town has two sections: the international portion by the river, consisting of the spiritual area containing the Grotto and churches, known as the Domaine or the Sanctuaries, and the French portion, centered around the Marketplace and Hotel de Ville.Lourdes is a pedestrian friendly city with several pedestrian only streets and it is very easy to get around the town center. It really is worth walking and exploring. Don't miss the nightly candlelight procession in front of the Basilica and around the main square, with singing, prayer and a rosary said in many languages.

6. Santiago de Compostela
Stay
About the destination: Since the Middle Ages and continuing to the present day, Santiago de Compostela has been a significant pilgrimage destination. This sacred city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. Located in the far northwest of Spain, 100km north of the Portuguese border, Santiago serves as the capital of the autonomous region of Galicia. The city is home to Spain's most renowned church. La Catedral is magnificent, a seamless blend of styles and periods beneath two towering spires. Just inside the main entrance is the Pórtico de la Gloria, one of the most exceptional examples of Romanesque sculpture in Europe. Close to the cathedral is the Museo do Pobo Galego, a museum dedicated to the Galician people, located in the Monasterio de Santo Domingo, which houses replicas of ancient Celtic ruins. Nearly half of Santiago's population consists of lively students eager to have fun. Bars and pubs are scattered throughout the medieval streets of the old town and along Calle Santiago de Chile. The nights in Santiago de Compostela have a unique glow. The moonlight transforms the town into a timeless setting where landmarks highlight the city's most beautiful and nostalgic aspects. And for those seeking a vibrant nightlife, Santiago's nights are endless.

7. Fatima
Stay
About the destination: Since 1917, Fatima has been recognized as a sacred city. It is believed that the Virgin Mary made an appearance to three young shepherds. These apparitions of Mary transformed the city into one of the largest hubs of Marian devotion worldwide. Two massive churches were constructed over a sprawling 1km-long esplanade where the Virgin is said to have appeared, namely the Basilica de Fatima and the Igreja da Santissima Trinidade, which can seat up to 9000 pilgrims. Every year, people of all nationalities and beliefs journey here to affirm their faith and seek miracles. Fatima has become a symbol of Christian Portugal, with the town's heart being its Basilica. Within the basilica lie the remains of two children who claimed to have seen the Virgin; visitors can see the tombs of Jacinta and Francisco. The town's focal point is the Sanctuary of Our Lady Fatima. The most significant gatherings of devotees occur on May 13, during the Farewell Procession. However, the most breathtaking sight is on the night of May 12 during the Candlelight Procession, where thousands of visitors carry lit candles. The town is well-equipped with ample accommodations and hotels to house the throngs of pilgrims, as well as restaurants and shops, primarily selling religious merchandise.
