Nouméa is de hoofdstad en grootste stad van de Franse speciale gemeenschap Nieuw-Caledonië. Het ligt op een schiereiland in het zuiden van het hoofdeiland van Nieuw-Caledonië, Grande Terre, en is de thuisbasis van het merendeel van de Europese, Polynesische (Wallisiërs, Futuniërs, Tahitianen), Indonesische en Vietnamese bevolkingsgroepen van het eiland, evenals vele Melanesiërs, Ni-Vanuatu en Kanaken die werken in een van de meest geïndustrialiseerde steden van de Zuidelijke Stille Oceaan. De stad ligt aan een beschermd diepwaterhaven die dient als de belangrijkste haven voor Nieuw-Caledonië. Bij de volkstelling van augustus 2014 waren er 179.509 inwoners in het grootstedelijk gebied van Groot-Nouméa (Frans: agglomération du Grand Nouméa), waarvan 99.926 in de stad (gemeente) Nouméa zelf woonden. 66,8% van de bevolking van Nieuw-Caledonië woont in Groot-Nouméa, dat de gemeenten Nouméa, Le Mont-Dore, Dumbéa en Païta omvat.

Inyeug Island is a small uninhabited island in Tafea Province of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean. "Inyeug" means "Small Island" in a local language. Inyueg is also called Mystery Island by the cruise ships that regularly visit the island. The island has an area of about 15.9 hectares and is located only 1 km south of the island of Aneityum. Inyeug is flanked to the west and south by the coral Intao Reef, that extends further south, and, albeit submerged, is the southernmost point of Vanuatu. The island has the airport for the neighboring inhabited Aneityum Island. The airport is basically a grass airstrip, which gets small plane flights twice weekly from Port Vila via Tanna Island.
