Killarney Irland

Killarney er en lille by med stor turistinteresse, beliggende ved indgangen til Killarney Nationalpark. Denne reserve med mange søer og skove er starten på Ring of Kerry, en cirkulær turistrute perfekt til at slappe af midt i naturen. Ligesom flertallet af byer i Irland, er Killarney rig på arkitektoniske og historiske seværdigheder. Byen har charmerende arkitektur og stil, der minder om det sene 19. århundrede. Byens hovedmonument er St. Mary's Cathedral, dekoreret med mosaikker og fresker, det betragtes som en af de vigtigste og bedste gotiske genopbygningskirker fra det nittende århundrede i Irland. 5 minutter fra Killarney bymidte finder vi det vidunderligt restaurerede 15. århundrede Ross Castle, hjemsted for den legendariske gæliske høvding O’Donoghue Ross.
