About the destination: Mucugê is a municipality in the state of Bahia, in the North-East region of Brazil. It is close to the Chapada da Diamantina National Park. Initially inhabited by the Maracás Indians, the actual occupation occurred during the golden times of mineral prospection, from 1710, when gold was found near Contas River, marking the arrival of the explorers. 7. Ouro Preto
Stay
About the destination: Ouro Preto is a fabulous eighteenth city, nestled in the bottom of a valley in the mining mountains. Anachronistic and fascinating, it re-emerges as a vision of the past that dazzles visitors with its baroque architecture. Traveling to Ouro Preto, marked by its history, forged on the sacrifice of thousands of miners who were exploited in their sinkholes, is an almost mystical experience unforgettable. Origin of the first society of modern characteristics of Brazil, the tourism in Ouro Preto must include a route for its perfectly conserved colonial architecture, that owed to it the recognition of National Monument City in 1933, and the declaration of Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO in 1980. Among the main attractions a Ouro Preto guide includes its many churches, decorated in a baroque mining style of a spectacular and recharged aspect. The works of the "Aleijadinho", famous sculptor and builder, make up a very special chapter of the Prado culture. Its cultural festivals are also attractive. No less spectacular than architecture, is the nature of the region, with waterfalls, parks and native forests.
