Serengeti (Tanzania) Tanzania

Cheetahs, leopards, hippos, giraffes, and African elephants … are just a few of the thousands of animal species that you'll find across the thirteen thousand square kilometres of the Serengeti Nature Reserve in Tanzania. This name is what the Masai used to call this place, the Serengeti, which translates to "endless plains". This vast plain is filled with kilometres of grassland and open forest. A particularly iconic feature of this nature reserve is the migration of wildebeest, gazelles and zebras, one of the most awe-inspiring natural spectacles you can witness today and a major draw for tourists. The Serengeti National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. There are many fascinating places to visit, such as Seronera (the central zone), a small area that is home to a wide variety of animal species. In addition to all this, there are plenty of activities to enjoy, such as a balloon safari over the reserve, visiting a hippo pond, climbing "Naabi Hill" and taking in the views. Overall, it's the perfect place to connect with nature.
