Charlotte, NC United States of America

Charlotte is the biggest city in North Carolina and the second largest financial hub in the country, only surpassed by New York. Despite its small-town southern roots, Charlotte is rapidly transforming into a major southern city. Uptown is the heart of Charlotte, home to its impressive skyline. The skyline is dominated by modern high-rise buildings, with the Wachovia building, the Bank of America building - the tallest of them all, and the Transamerica building standing out. While Charlotte isn't typically recognized for its pre-modern structures, the City Hall building is one of the few older ones. A statue in the square pays tribute to the city's World War I veterans, standing in stark contrast to the ultra-modern skyline in the backdrop. Charlotte is a surprisingly diverse city, offering all the amenities of other large cities. It's conveniently located near three lakes, providing a plethora of water sports opportunities, from fishing and swimming to water-skiing. Despite its rapid growth, Charlotte still maintains much of its Southern charm.
