About the destination: Palma de Mallorca is the only true city on the island. It's a city located on the island of Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands off the east coast of Spain. The city has evolved into a destination in its own right, rather than just a brief stop for vacationers on their way to the island's numerous beach resorts. This is due to its increasingly cosmopolitan vibe, its cutting-edge galleries and museums, a vibrant cultural scene, and a growing number of stylish boutiques, trendy bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. Palma de Mallorca is a fantastic place to visit. The city boasts a rich architectural diversity, with various styles blending together. The remnants of Arab and Jewish cultures, the Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture of its churches, convents, and manor houses, along with its comprehensive infrastructure of cultural attractions, make Palma a unique cultural destination. Don't miss the chance to stroll through the narrow streets, take a close look at the interior courtyards, and look up to admire the impressive architecture on the tops of various buildings where Gaudi and his followers left their mark. The entire town is surrounded by lush forests, with olive and almond trees nourished by the abundant springs in the area. This ancient monastery holds an important historical legacy, including accounts from two remarkable visitors: Frederic Chopin and George Sand. These are preserved in the cloisters, cells, gardens, and museums, featuring scores, writings, furnishings, and correspondence related to their stay on the island, as well as the "Pleyel" piano. In memory of the outstanding Polish composer, concerts are held in the cloister and gardens of the Carthusian Monastery during the summer. From Valldemossa, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Sierra Tramuntana or visit the nearby towns of Deià, Sóller, Banyalbufar, or Santa Maria del Camí.
